Teck K2 Provincials 2011 - Sun, Fun and Great Skiing at Panorama Mountain - BC Alpine Ski Association

What a fantastic four days of skiing (both on course and off) were had at Panorama Mountain Village last week. The sun shone everyday, making the long days on the side of the course enjoyable for all.

The Windermere Valley Ski Club is one of the smallest clubs in the province, so when we host big events we need lots of help and we sure got it! The ROC would like to thank the many volunteers who came out to lend a hand. One of the great things about hosting the K2 Provincials is that by now the parents are all very well trained – it was like having an all-star team in place. They did an incredible job!

The athlete performances we witnessed where amazing. The snow conditions were perfect and the courses held up very well. We used a new slalom track this year and the course was a perfect challenge for this group.

We are very grateful to Manuel Osborne Paradis (Manny!!) and Louis-Pierre Helie from the Canadian Alpine Ski Team who took the time to come to the banquet on Saturday night and present awards. Manny was fantastic with kids and they enjoyed his presence. The best performance at the banquet was definitely the Fernie Alpine Ski Team dance routine!

Mountain Eye Photography was on the hill each day capturing great images of the racers – photos are available HERE.

There were also several parents taking pictures of the awards – if you are one of them, please be kind enough to forward a selection to Kathy Stahr at BC Alpine – thank you!

Sincerely,
