New BC Alpine Club Development Coordinator (CDC) Position

General Overview
Reporting to the Program Director, the Club Development Coordinator (CDC) will support the BC Alpine Ski Association (BCA) in its objective of enhancing participation and program design in British Columbia Alpine ski racing clubs. The priorities will include:
– Growth of the Sport
– Superior Program Delivery
– Quality Coaching

The first priority for the CDC will be Entry Level programs, specifically working with all the clubs to enhance their RTA Nancy Greene Ski League, K1 programs and club development.

The CDC will provide training and resources at the club level, which will assist coaches and volunteers in designing and delivering effective entry-level programs. The expected outcome for the CDC is an increase in the number of skiers participating in entry-level programs in BC and an increase in the overall skill level of participants and coaches at the entry and K level.

The CDC has a responsibility to all clubs of BC Alpine (athletes and coaches) to display leadership and professionalism in his/her day-to-day interactions with all members. The CDC will abide by all BC Alpine and CSCF behaviour and ethics codes and policies.

Specific Duties
Qualifications and Skills:
• Performance Level or Level 3 Canadian Ski Coaches Federation certified status.
• Entry Level Course Facilitator, Development Level facilitator an asset
• Proven leadership abilities in the ski club system; minimum of 6-10 years active coaching K and FIS levels.
• Must have abilities to work independently while driving the vision of development to unify the Province in consultation with Program Director
• Extensive travel throughout the Province is required in this role

Club Development and Training:
• Guide and promote skill and technical progressions for entry level and K1 skiers
• Create implementation strategy for Long Term Athlete Development Plan for Entry Level BC Alpine skiers suitable for each club/zone
• Effective delivery strategies for the Husky Snow Stars program
• Coordinate all Provincial and regional K1 projects (BC Games, Provincials, Westerns)
• Liase with every club in EL and K1 program design, content and delivery
• Coordinate CSCF Entry Level coaching courses; hire course facilitators and manage schedule of courses
• Deliver the Entry Level Academy coach training sessions in each zone
• Support the monitoring of the certification process for Entry Level coaches
• Create a data base of all coaches and have regular communication with all Entry Level and K1 coaches
• Create strategies to increase retention from EL to K1 for each zone and club
• Create recruitment strategies for the Nancy Greene Ski League programs for all clubs

Communication:
• Provide timely and effective communication relevant to entry level programs to the BC Alpine membership and clubs
• Create RTA Nancy Greene Ski League working groups per zone; including content and progression of skill challenges at events throughout the season
• Prepare written reports as required
• Work towards a web based learning (video) and feedback process to monitor club programs
• Attend BC Alpine and Alpine Canada meetings as required

Length of contract: October 1, 2011 – April 30, 2012
