CALGARY, ALTA. (March 5, 2012) – The J1 Canadian Championships will be held in Whistler, B.C., from March 8 to 11 and will showcase the top 15- and 16-year-old racers from across Canada. The racers will be competing in men's and ladies' super-G, giant slalom and slalom and the top overall male and female racers will receive a round-trip ticket from KLM-Air France to fly to Amsterdam, Netherlands.
“The J1 championship is a critical benchmark in Canadian ski racing, allowing athletes to gauge their progress against the best Canada has to offer at that age," said Jean-François Rapatel, Alpine Canada’s national athletic director. "It is also a great opportunity for them to qualify for the senior national championships and also an opportunity to get an invitation the annual Alpine Canada Prospect Evaluation Camp.”
