Grouse and Whistler earn U16 slalom gold at Sun Peaks Teck open event

SUN PEAKS RESORT (Dec. 13, 2014) – Racers took to the slalom course Saturday on day two of the new Teck Open Series event at Sun Peaks. in the girls' race Frances MacDonald of the Grouse Tyee Ski Club skied two solid runs to win both overall and U16 gold. Gabrielle Smith of the Whistler Mountain Ski Club took overall silver, while Kristina Natalenko of Grouse Tyee earned overall bronze and U16 silver. U16 bronze went to Whistler Mountain Ski Club's Katie Fleckenstein.

On the men's side, the overall podium was occupied by FIS racers Kevin Drury of Ontario in first, Max Kirshenblatt of Whistler Mountain Ski Club in second, and Kole Harle, also of WMSC, in third. U16 gold and silver medals went to Whistler Mountain Ski Club athletes Kasper Woolley and Masashi Tsutsumi respectively. Rounding out the U16 podium in third was Ryan Finley from the Fernie Alpine Ski Team.
