The first medal for BC at the 2015 Canada Winter Games was won by Kristina Natalenko of the Grouse Tyee Ski Club. Natalenko earned silver in Monday's GS competition, and was joined on the podium by Brianna MacDonald of Ontario in the gold medal position, and Quebec's Maxime Tremblay who took the bronze.
For Kristina Natalenko, earning the silver medal was an honour. “I was really excited and I feel like I really represented B.C.,” said Natalenko. “My second run went better than my first run because I had a cleaner line and I was pretty happy with my ski.”
“This is the longest giant slalom they have done, and will do, in their age group," said head coach Justine Parent. "It was a long course, hard snow, and technical terrain – which is good preparation for FIS next year. This event gave them a taste of that level, and the girls are loving it.”
