Ten athletes have been named to the Ski Cross team that will represent Canada at the 2015 FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships in Valmalenco, Italy.

The championships provide a chance for the best young ski cross talent aged 16-21 from around to world to compete together. Events start on March 22, and run through to April 1, 2015. Aerials, Moguls, Dual Moguls, Slopestyle and Halfpipe are up first on the event schedule, with Ski Cross races closing out the championships on April 1.
“The Junior World Championships are a great opportunity for us to see how the Canadian developmental program is on track against international competition,” explained Willy Raine, Athletic Director of Canadian Ski Cross team. Many competitors who have raced the World Cup circuit this season will be in the mix for the title of Junior World Champion. Raine is confident in Canada’s chance of being on top of the podium.
Gold medalist of the 2014 Sochi Winter Games, Marielle Thompson won the ski cross title at the 2013 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championship. Showing that strong results at these championships translate well into Olympic and World Cup success.
The Canadian Freestyle Junior World Ski Championship team will be led by Sead Causevic, Canada Ski Cross Head Coach of Development, and Stanley Hayer, Canada Ski Cross Assistant Head Coach.
Of the ten athletes selected, eight will be competing, with two alternates named to the team.
