VANCOUVER, B.C. (April 10, 2015) – One of the strongest ski teams in the country just got stronger.
BC Alpine announces several staffing changes, including the appointment of Pierre Luc “PL” Dumoulin as BC Ski Team men’s coach, joining women’s coach Ryan Jazic, and Nick Cooper, who is promoted to the BC Ski Team head coach role.
Johnny Crichton assumes the role of Athletic Director for BC Alpine at the end of this month, as Gordie Bowles steps aside to refocus efforts on his media company Fresh Air Publishing.

“Very exciting times in BC right now with three of the best coaches in the country leading our provincial ski team,” said Crichton. “I am looking forward to not screwing up the great groundwork laid by Gordie Bowles. His departure will be huge loss to the system, but we hope to wrangle him into a consultant or volunteer role.”
Dumoulin, who departs his position with Alpine Canada as women’s development team coach at the end of April, is no stranger to BC Alpine and provincial ski teams. Formerly a coach for the Alberta Ski Team, BC Alpine J1 program, Whistler Mountain Ski Club and the Lake Louise Ski Club, PL sees a bright future with the BC Ski Team.
“The BC Team has a great leadership group and a very exciting group of athletes to work with,” said Dumoulin. “I believe their impressive results this season are only the beginning of a long journey and I am looking forward to being part of it.”
Crichton’s new role as Athletic Director will be focused on continued leadership of the BC Ski Team athletes and staff, coach mentoring and provincial programs – in addition to taking on leadership of the new province-wide FIS program scheduled to commence in May 2015.
BC Alpine athletics staff will continue to be supported by the leadership and experience of Andrew Lambert, Sports Science Director, and Justine Parent, Club Development Coordinator.
The BC Ski Team concluded the competitive season in Panorama recently, wrapping up a successful campaign. Six athletes (three men, three women) will be attending the national development team selection camp later this month to try out for a spot on the team.
“I'm looking forward to this new challenge and really excited with the staff that we have and the athletes on our team,” said Nick Cooper. “It was a fun year for me working with such a great young group, and next year should be even better.”
