"Hosting the Canadian Championships in BC is an honour and a privilege," said BC Alpine General Manager, Anders Hestdalen. "To be able to run it at Red Mountain Resort, where Canadian ski racing began, and North America's first ever World Cup race was held exactly 50 years ago, made it that much more special! The Red Mountain Racers did a superb job making this event happen, and Red Mountain Resort and the town of Rossland have been extremely supportive throughout the planning and execution of such a major undertaking. I overheard several ex-ski racers saying that this was the best Nationals they could remember. That’s fun! It was a true celebration of our sport thanks to the athletes, coaches, clubs, volunteers, Alpine Canada and of course the fans!"

“It was a little wild out there today,” said Fleckenstein. “Both runs had low visibility and it was bumpy but I guess that’s when I ski the best – it was fun! I love it out here getting to ski with all my friends. It’s been great.”

Fleckenstein also finished 3rd on the slalom U19 championship podium.

Declan McCormack (Osler Bluff) was crowned the U19 men’s slalom national champion. Asher Jordan (BCST/Whistler Mountain Ski Club) finished in second-place and Jamie Casselman (Team Panorama) finished in third-place.

Jamie Casselman (Team Panorama) was the U19 Giant Slalom National Champion. Justin Vittecoq (Bromont Ski Club) finished in second-place and Hunter Watson (Camp Fortune Ski Racing Club) finished in third-place.
