The Finals for the Western Canada Ski Cross Series were held on the TELUS Park ski cross course at Big White on the weekend of March 8th to 10th. This was the last stop in a series of races across western Canada for athletes U12 and older. The TELUS Park ski cross track consists of natural and artificial features such as banked turns, doubles, rollers, wootangs and aztecs. What truly sets ski cross apart from other skiing disciplines is the fact that there are four skiers competing in the track at the same time. This exciting sport made it’s Olympic debut at the Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010. Approximately 100 young athletes from BC, Alberta and Washington State, including the host team racers from the Big White Ski Club, raced on the exceptional track. Course training took place on Friday and competition happened on Saturday and Sunday, offering some thrilling entertainment for spectators! Ned Ireland from the Canadian Ski Cross Team was on hand to present the awards.
