The BC Amateur Sport Fund is raising funds to give amateur sports organizations the vital support they need to survive and rebuild in the aftermath of the recent floods in British Columbia.
You can designate your donation to a specific community, sport or club, or make a general donation which will go to the greatest need selected by Sport BC. You cannot donate to support a specific individual.
Sport BC will match $10,000 in donations to the Flood Relief Project. Sport BC will match every dollar raised up to $500 for each PSO and affiliate, up to a total of $10,000. Match funding will be prioritized for organizations most affected by the flooding.
Your donation can help community sport organizations across the province with costs including rebuilding facilities and replacing equipment, rental of temporary facilities and travel costs. BC Alpine member clubs do not need to register with BCASF to fundraise with the Flood Relief Fund. Organizations can access funds designated to them by providing quotes or invoices for costs associated with the flooding. BCASF prefers to pay for those costs directly to your supplier. Eligible costs must be to the exclusive benefit of amateur sport and may include replacement equipment, facilities repair and renovation, rental fees and travel costs. BCASF will hold back 5% of all donations to cover overhead and administrative costs.

We are excited to announce the first two speakers in this year’s webinar series. In previous years we have hosted our Member Summit over several days, but this year we will be offering a series of webinars over the course of the winter. Some will be live and others will be pre-recorded and available on BC Alpine’s YouTube channel. We will cover topics like Professional Development, Safe Sport, Athletic Development and Event Hosting.
On Wednesday, December 1stat 12:00 PM (PST) we’ll kick things off with a “Jazz-alogical” approach to Understanding and Developing Your Athlete’s Process. Ryan Jazic (Grouse Tyee U16 Head Coach) digs into his vast library of knowledge and experience to bring you a thought-provoking and thoroughly entertaining presentation. Next up, on Wednesday, December 8that 12:00 PM (PST), John Newton (BC Alpine Coach Education Manager) will present Pathways and Professionalism – an overview of what the coaching pathway looks like, and a refresher on what to expect from any professional coach. The BC Alpine Board of Directors has released a Covid-19 vaccine policy for the upcoming 2021-22 ski racing season. This policy applies to everyone born in 2009 or earlier (athletes, coaches, and volunteers) involved in any BC Alpine sanctioned events including races, coach education or training, officials’ education, and all other BC Alpine sanctioned in-person events. This policy will be enforced from November 4th, 2021, until further notice.
As part of its new social media strategy, BC Alpine recently hired two “Social Media Interns” who are tasked with helping publish interesting content on a regular basis. Stef Fleckenstein (@stef_fleck), a Whistler Mountain Ski Club and BC Ski Team alumna who is currently racing World Cup with the International Ski Racing Academy – and Molly Raymond, an up-and-coming racer from the Okanagan Ski Team and Apex Mountain Ski Club, are ready to roll.
BC Alpine has posted facilitator training schedules and courses, which are available now (*no cost) through the beginning of December to cover this season and we’re encouraging all coaches to please take advantage of these opportunities. All current and past facilitators will need an update this season, online update October 29th is available only to those who have facilitated in the past. If you need the update and you can’t make that date you can sign up for Nov 15.

New facilitators require both NCCP LF core training and the LF training for New Facilitators. BC Alpine is offering the LF training for new facilitators on Nov 15th, and there are a couple options for NCCP Core LF in the locker (Linked Below).
Training is available for facilitators and evaluators – Friday October 22nd @ 11:30am PST. This will be an update mainly focused on entering and updating results. But club admins may benefit as well. REGISTER
