Help PG Coach and Masters student Alice Muirhead conduct research survey

BC Alpine would like to know what kind of parent behaviours ensure children have good sport experiences.

The project considers the opinions of both the target athlete and his/her parents regarding sporting experiences. If possible, mothers and fathers should complete the parent survey, and all athletes aged 13-17 in a family should complete the athlete survey.

This research is being conducted by Alice Muirhead, as part of her Master's degree under the supervision of Dr. Shannon Wagner at the University of Northern British Columbia. The project has UNBC Research Ethics approval, and all participants are free to withdraw at any time.

Cypress Ski Club and Cypress Mountain Host Teck Coast Zone Finals Event

(West Vancouver, BC) – Under glorious sunny, blue skies the Cypress Ski Club hosted this year’s Teck Coast Zone Finals Ski Race on April 12th and 13th, 2014 at Cypress Mountain.

Approximately 200 athletes between the ages of 12 and 18 from clubs across the region competed in this weekend's races. Organizers welcomed racers from the Cypress Ski Club, Whistler Mountain Ski Club, Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club, Mount Seymour Ski Club, Hemlock Valley Ski Club and Mt. Washington Ski Club. 

Thanks to the many volunteers, as well as the management and staff of Cypress Mountain, for all the help and support – it was a wonderful way to end the season!!

For the first time ever in Mike and Manny cowboy's ski camp history we skied downhill!  With the Dave Murray training center as our venue the stage was set to let the kids fly.

King off to U of Waterloo; thanks to all who were along for the amazing ride!

"After three amazing years with BC Alpine on the women's team, I have decided to end my career as a competitive ski racer. I suffered a minor injury in the beginning of March which made me reflect on my career and think about my future. Through meetings with Johnny and my parents I've decided that I have more options in school than skiing. I will be enrolling in the University of Waterloo in the fall.

With this said, I would like to thank everyone who has helped me in my career. Every coach has taught me something whether for skiing or lifestyle. Thank you to sponsors Atomic, Fischer, and Skiis and Biikes for helping me with my endless need for equipment and tools. Haywood and all of the other BC Alpine sponsors have helped tremendously with the never ending financial payments. As well, Whistler Mountain Ski Club, I would never be the skier I am today without the amazing support from the coaching staff. All of the BC Alpine staff, thank you for supporting me for the past three years! Thank you to all of my friends I have made along the way, you guys have made the -30 days with windchill fun if that's possible! Of course, thank you to my family who have always supported me through the ups and even the downs I have gone through. And if I missed anyone, thank you!"
