Congratulations to the BCA 2010 GMC Terrain Raffle ‘Early Bird’ Winners

Two early bird prizes were up for grabs today in our Early Bird draw.

The first ticket drawn was for a Miele Vacuum cleaner (MSRP $750) which belonged to Katsuhiko Sato of Richmond. Katsuhiko’s son is a member of the Cypress Ski Club’s Rio Tinto Alcan NGSL program. This was the only ticket that he purchased from his son’s ticket allocation and I’m sure he’s happy he did.

The second draw netted Mr Dean Wagner of Prince Rupert a Descente BC Ski Team Jacket and Pants, also valued at $750. Dean was lucky enough to pick up his winning ticket from a local ski racer selling them at a conference at Shames Mountain.

Both winner’s tickets will be re-entered into the grand prize draw which gives them both the chance to still win a fantastic 2010 GMC Terrain on March 19th.. do you have your ticket yet?

GMC Canadian Championships Recruiting Volunteers for Multiple Locations

The GMC Canadian Championships is the show case event for Junior and Senior level athletes from across Canada. The participants compete, not only against their peers, but also against members of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team (CAST). The GMC Canadian Championship event is made up of competitions from all five alpine disciplines (DH, SG, GS, SC and SL) and a Provincial Dual Race.
In 2010 the GMC Canadian Championships will be held at the beautiful Nakiska Ski resort in Kananaskis country, Alberta. Alpine Canada Alpin and the Nakiska Ski Resort will host the best Canadian Alpine athletes in all alpine disciplines (DH, SG, GS, SL, and SC). The organizing committee is working toward building a team of volunteers to execute top level events for our Canadian athletes. If you are interested in volunteering for this great event please sign up by visiting www.canski.org and our volunteer sign-up page at http://canski.org/canadian-alpine-races.

We look forward to seeing you on the slopes.

Snow Conditions force Cancelation of Grouse Tyee Kinder Teck K1 SL race

The Grouse Tyee Kinder Teck K1 SL scheduled for next weekend (January 30-31) has been canceled. Despite a huge effort from Grouse Mountain Resorts who have done an unbelievable job maintaining the little snow that they have been given, there will not be enough coverage to run a proper race.
We hope to run a K1 race for the racers not attend the BC Winter Games on March 6th & 7th along side our E2’s in the 2nd annual Tyee Cup.
