Minister Gary Lunn was named as Minister of State for Sport yesterday.
Minister Lunn has shown considerable interest in alpine ski racing, attending the Sierra Wireless Whistler Cup in 2007 and 2008. This interest is not surprising as the Minister competed in the 1960’s in alpine ski racing as a member of the North Star Racers of Kimberly, BC.
By the end of the week all CWSAA All Area Pass applications should be in to our office. We will be using the received applications to determine who receives a pass for this season.
Even if you know you have sent your pass in, you should verify you are on the list of received applications by checking to see if your name shows up on http://bcalpine.com/content/OddsEnds/AllAreaPass/

The power went out this morning in our offices and has affected our telephones, internet, and email systems. Please note that we will not be able to get our emails until power has been restored which we hope to be in the next few hours.
NOTE: As of 2:30pm power was restored and emails should be received. As the power was out most of the day the staff left early to get some work done remotely where they had power so it’s unlikely anyone will answer phones for the afternoon.

It is time to apply for All Area Passes, and the updated forms have been put online. Due to increased FIS numbers, BC Alpine will not be accepting application from anyone except for registered FIS athletes and their coaches. Both athletes and coaches must be registered on the BC Alpine Club Admin / Registration System in order for them to be accepted for All Area Passes, so make sure that the club registrar has them showing online. Yes, I did say coaches need to be registered too! Due to quota restrictions, some applications may not be successful.
Deadline for submission in to BC Alpine is October 17, so make sure you get the paperwork in to your club nice and early! You can verify your form has been received by the office by checking the All Area Pass Received List.
Process for Applicants: Applicants should print off the All Area Pass Form and fill it out entirely. The completed form should be sent in to your club along a cheque for $480 made out to your club. We ask this season that photos be submitted through our website at http://aap.bcalpine.com/ however we understand that some members may not be able to and ask that those members firmly attach two passport sized photos (with their names clearly printed on the back) to their paper application.
Process for Clubs: Clubs will receive all the All Area Pass Forms and verify that they are a registered FIS Athletes or full time traveling coach. The club will then send BC Alpine a completed All Area Pass Club Reconciliation form along with the individual All Area Pass Forms, and a single club cheque for the entire amount of the passes applied for, as well as the attached photos for those members that were unable to upload them online.
