The Jasper Ski Club in Alberta will be hosting the K2 Western Championships this season in late March. Marmot Basin, near Jasper, will host a Super-G, GS and Slalom for this event that will feature BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and
Manitoba K2 athletes. The recently confirmed dates are Friday, March 28, Sat. March 29, Sun. Mar. 30. All K2-aged athletes from BC are eligible.

Canadian racers Allison Forsyth and Britt Janyk scored top-10 results in the women's World Cup giant slalom ski race Thursday.
Veteran racer Birgit Heeb-Batliner of Lichtenstein won her first World Cup in 2 minutes, 26.78 seconds, edging Austrian Alexandra Meissnitzer by 6/100ths of a second. Olympic gold medallist Janica Kostelic, of Croatia, was third in 2:26.96.

And we're off – it is day one of the four month long GMC Envoy raffle as clubs around the province gear up to sell tickets. Close to 17,000 tickets have been distributed for the GMC Envoy which lists at $41, 320. Good luck to all clubs and happy selling! Janyk, second in the second run took 10th spot just behind fellow teammate Forsyth in eighth. Fellow Canadian Genevieve Simard finished 22nd. A solid BC coach turnout at the innaugral CSCF BC coaches update session at Apex Mountain Resort was a big success. The Canadian coaching federation wrapped up the four-day Head Coach and Entry Level Course Conductor update on Sunday. CSCF managers Pierre Ruel, Gord Brown and Keith Robinson updated the 30+ coaches on the latest in Canadian ski coaching, including Snow Stars, competency-based coaching, the latest advances in racing technique, and Train to Train strategies. BC Alpine would like to thank CSCF and look forward to making this an annual event at Apex.
