And the Winner Is..



Gurjeet Jhujj of Prince Rupert is the 'shocked' new owner of a brand new 2002 Pontiac Montana. Jhujj purchased the $5 ticket from the Smithers Ski Club on a family day-trip to the mountain. Congratulations to the Jhujj family and to all the BC clubs who participated in the 2002 Pontiac Montana Raffle.

Sierra Wireless Air Canada Whistler Cup K2 Super G



On day one of three at the Sierra Wireless Air Canada Whistler Cup, Whistler Mountain's Kendall Benbow was right at home with a strong silver place finish in one minute 2.77 seconds just behind Kathrin Triendl of Austria in 1:01.88. New Zealand's Julia McClean was third in 1:02.90. Benbow, fresh from her bronze medal performance in GS at the Merrill Lynch Canadian National Juvenile Championships in Panorama is looking for gold here on her home hill as she proudly represents Team BC. Other BC notables were: Allison Leighton (Whistler) 17th, Lindsay Kraft (Vernon) 25th, Julia Murray (Whistler) 30th and Jennifer Graham (Mt. Washington) 33rd. On the men's side of the house, it was local Whistler racer Matthew Holler who was the top BC racer in eighth place in 1:01.82. Looking down the men's top 30, Holler was joined by David Gunderson (Windermere Valley) in 22nd and Jeff Hutton (Grouse) in 28th spot. Today's the day as Pontiac Montana sales wrap up around the province. Clubs are urged to express post their tickets to BC Alpine if they have not already done so. Tickets and money not received by 5 p.m. Tuesday are not guaranteed entry into Saturday's draw at the Sierra Wireless Air Canada Whistler Cup April 6, 2002.

Anderson Riding Slalom Wave in Red



On his home hill, the Face on Red, Rossland's Scott Anderson skied to a second place finish in the first of two men's slalom races over the weekend in Rossland. In a two-run time of 1:42.44, Anderson was warming up to Monday's competition where he took first place in 1:40.33 edging out teammates Scott Hume (Whistler) in fourth, Mike Janyk (NJT-Whistler) in fifth, Manuel Osborne Paradis (Whistler) in sixth and Graham Kraft (Vernon) in seventh.
