Hume finished just shy of the podium in Saturday's slalom, settling for fourth place behind three Austrians. On Sunday, finishing only nine one-hundredths off of leader Christoph Dreier of Austria, Hume captured silver and took his place on the podium with a total time of one minute, 39.70.
Jody Centauro, of Beaconsfield, Que., also competed in the slaloms, finishing 39th on Saturday, and 34th on Sunday.

Brigitte Acton earned her third and fourth gold medal this week with a victory in the women's slalom and a first place ranking in the combined Wednesday at the Pontiac GMC Canadian junior championships alpine skiing competition.

With no lack of snow on the ground and in the trees, the Apex Downhill Skills Camp kicked off Monday with 60 athletes from all four zones around the Province who have gathered to learn and improve their speed skills. Spectacular conditions, a roller mid-course and a great track have launched this skills camp with a bang. The track is in super shape and the group has been split into rookies and veterans to allow those new to downhill skills to progress slowly up the course. The Junior World Championships are being hosted in Serre Chevalier, France with speed and technical events March 4-8, 2003. Lustenberger and Osborne Paradis, both of the BC Ski Team, are the only two athletes selected that are not on Canada's National Development squad.
