Trail native Aaron Civitarese stormed the pack winning both runs to take top spot in the Men's GS at Mt. Norquay Thursday. Civitarese, in his fourth year with the team, takes his first podium of the season. Former teammate, Brian Bennett of Whistler took second place and Graham Kraft of Vernon rounded out the top-5 in fifth.
The Alcan NGSL race originally scheduled for February 2 has been moved to February 10th. Please make the change on your calendars.
Former BC Ski Team member and current National Development Team member Christina Risler skied to a 12th place spot in Thursday's Women's Giant Slalom in Hunter Mountain, New York. Risler, a native of Whistler was one of five Canadians in the top-15 race. Competition continues with another GS Friday followed by two slalom over the weekend.
Four days of Pontiac GMC Cup Competition wrapped up Sunday at Norquay. The BC Ski Team and Development Team walked away with a grand total of 7 medals and many more top-10 finishes from BC team racers. Well done, BC Team and all participating BC athletes.
Narrowly missing a top-10 spot, Canada's workhorse and the pride of Mt. Washington, Allison Forsyth finished 11th by one 1/100th of a second (2:23.97 -1:11.31; 1:12.66) in the women's World Cup GS Friday in Maribor, Slovenia. The Slovenian World Cup stop continues with back to back slaloms through the weekend.
