If you’re not the registrar for your club you should make sure that your registrar knows about this news article. The latest, and expectantly the FINAL modification to our Ski Cross registration is official and it is.. well, it’s a doozy.
Except for FIS members, there is no longer a need to choose between “Alpine” and “Ski Cross” as it has been recently negotiated that all Alpine registered national members will have the ability to compete in Ski Cross events.
FIS members however still have to register using the multi-discipline selection as before. This is required still as at the FIS level Ski Cross is still a Freestyle Ski discipline, not an Alpine discipline.
So to summarize it we have both good news and bad news:
Good news
- The number of potential registration categories just got cut down by almost 60%
- All national Alpine athletes can now also train and race Ski Cross with no additional cost
- All dual-discipline registered athletes have already been refunded to the single discipline cost in the BC Alpine Registration Database
Bad news
- The registration methodology has changed AGAIN.
- Some of your members may require a refund if they have already paid you for dual discipline
- The BC Alpine Registration Database import system was rebuilt for the new registration method and now has to be rebuilt again for the change. It may not be in place by the December 1 registration deadline this season
