Apex Miele Gunbarrel Downhill & SG ROC Chair

Miele Cup Apex Gunbarrel Down Hill & SG Feb 2 to 8

Now that you’ve seen the first speed event at Lake Louise how about brining your enthusiasm to volunteer at the event that all of our CAST members call the most important introductory speed event of their careers…the Miele Cup Apex Gunbarrel!!

The Gunbarrel is right here in the heart of British Columbia on a tried and ever improving track designed exactly for the needs of introducing real speed to our entry level FIS Athletes. In return for your passionate volunteerism the Gunbarrel ROC is proud to announce that for this season’s event we are offering accommodation for a good nights rest and unforgettable socializing opportunities everyday after the work day is done.

Please read Manual Osborne-Paradis reflections on the Gunbarrel.
Please find room in your busy schedule to give your time generously so more young ski racers can get the right stuff. Margaret Manton, Volunteer Coordinator, is standing by to receive your email and schedule your appearance. Margaret’s Email: margaretis@shaw.ca

Hi All,

Its that time again to help out the up and comers at the Apex Downhill. This is one of the only true downhills we have in Canada that is perfect for our Junior Program. The Gunbarrel has high speeds, great long turns and a nice downhill jump! Without this Downhill I wouldn’t have been able to build my speed skills at a young age and truly develop into the Speed skier that I am today. The Junior level is a very critical time to learn the basics of how to ski safe and fast. I was able to transfer what I learnt from my weeks at Apex into my technical skiing and it really helped my GS in ways that can’t be taught by just training technical events. It’s the true fundamentals of ski racing in canada. Without races like these we wouldn’t have stories to tell of the ‘Crazy Canucks’ and now the ‘Canadian Cowboys’.
To Manicure a true downhill course takes weeks of hard work from dedicated people. If you are at all interested in taking part or have kids in the program I think this would be a great opportunity to help our junior athletes in Canada become all they can be.
