The Vancouver Ski Team announces new head coach for 2011 – 2012 season | BC Alpine Ski Association

The Vancouver Ski Team (VST) proudly announces the appointment of Martin Tichy as the FIS Head Coach.

The VST is a regional ski team, made up of FIS registered athletes from the Vancouver based ski clubs. It has a rich and competitive history and was formed to combine the resources of the local clubs at the FIS level.

In recent years, the VST has been revamped to improve coaching and training quality on it’s quest to become a high performance regional team.
The appointment of Martin Tichy brings expertise and local knowledge to this pursuit.

Growing up in Port Moody, BC and being a Grouse Tyee alumni, Martin is well aware of the local opportunities and knows first hand what it takes to succeed ski racing in the Metro Vancouver area.

His impressive list of accomplishments includes US, Czech and Slovak national SL titles and a top 75 world ranking in SL in 1998.
Since retiring from full-time racing, Martin and the Tichy family have been running a world class summer training program at Mt Hood. Tichy Racing has been assisting the Vancouver ski clubs with summer training delivery for some time so the transition to the new role is expected to be smooth.
