Kelsey Serwa (Kelowna, BC) won a Continental Cup ski cross race in Chapelco, Argentina, described as the first ski cross event ever in South America.
Serwa actually won two races, and was followed by teammate Danielle Poleschuk (Calgary, AB) in both, after race organizers elected to race two finals on Sunday to make up for a previous cancellation.
Canadian teammate David Duncan (Golden, BC) won one of the two races on the men’s side in the event which included skiers from Canada, Great Britain and Argentina and Brazil.
“I’m always happy when I win because on any day, any one of us can take home the victory,” said Serwa, who is in Argentina with several national ski cross teammates training for the upcoming FIS World Cup season.
“Training here with Danie (Poleschuk) and the others has been nice. We all have strong points which we can feed off of to improve our overall skills. My starts are fast right now and I am definitely using that to my advantage,” added Serwa, a World Cup winner who placed fifth in women’s ski cross at the Olympic Winter Games in 2010.
Canada Ski Cross coach Brent Kehl said the team, which began training in Argentina last week, has enjoyed excellent conditions since arriving. They will return to Canada Sept. 10.
The Canadian Ski Cross team is the reigning overall Nation’s Cup champion, with Ashleigh McIvor (Whistler, BC) becoming the first ever women’s ski cross Olympic gold medalist last February.

The implimentation of the new HST tax in British Columbia has lead to a lot of confusion and conflicting information from different groups. We have recently received word from the HST Rulings Centre that we do not need in incorperate the HST into our program fees so have removed the tax and republished our pricing.
By popular demand we have also rounded the pennies on the programs to make everything as nice and simple as possible.
Up to date pricing can be found at the following link:

Also due to popular request, below is a graphic representation of the pricing of programs to help explain the new Alpine/SkiX model.

Alpine Canada is assisting in the transition of Ski Cross to Alpine by extending the registration dates for FIS licenses. They are allowing SX FIS cards to be sold at the July 1st rates until October 15th, 2010. FIS fees will remain at the July 1st price of $501.33 (HST included) until October 15th, 2010 after which they will return to $608 (HST included) as posted. ACA will wave the late fees during this period for FIS Ski Cross memberships only. This extension does not apply to FIS Alpine registrations. All other categories of membership remain as posted.
They will not allow for this grace period next season and so please be sure to inform members while registering that timelines next year will be strictly enforced. Ski Cross programs historically have registered in the fall at the summer prices when administered by Freestyle Canada. We have taken this into consideration for the 2010 registrations but we all need to work together so that registrations in 2011 follow the set timelines.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Upon registering into the BC Alpine Club Administration Database the registration price will not reflect the discounted rate. The registrar needs to contact Keven Dubinsky upon registering the athlete in order to have the price discounted.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: The FIS registration package has been updated for SkiX. If your package does not include SkiX please download the new one via the following link. http://bcalpine.com/filemanager/getfile/?FileID=62

Just a quick note here to make sure that all clubs are aware that all programs that are eligible for GST have been adjusted to the new HST.
This does not effect E or K level registration fees.
