Teck Enquist Slalom, January 26 & 27, 2013 at Mt. Seymour – COMPLETE RESULTS HERE
Toronto resident James Crawford (Whistler Mountain Ski Club) and Antonia Wearmouth (Grouse Tyee) from North Vancouver, were the individual recipients of the Enquist Slalom Trophies at this weekend’s alpine slalom races on Mt. Seymour.
Steeped in annual tradition since 1936, the two-day event was hosted by Mount Seymour Ski Club, and featured two slalom races (one on Saturday and one on Sunday) for young men and women aged 14-15.
Narrowly lined with newly snow-draped pines and shrouded in intermittent fog, the gorgeously picturesque “Unicorn” run presented itself with all the classic thrills and challenges that both racers, organizers, volunteers and spectators have become accustomed to over many years of Mt. Seymour ski racing history. Roused by the hunt for the prestigious Enquist trophies, the young alpine racers put on a breathtaking show of skills and athleticism.
Another winner of the individual categories was Sam Mulligan (Grouse Tyee), who won Sunday’s race for U16 boys.
Eric Konigsmann from the Vancouver Office of Teck, and Alex Douglas of Mt. Seymour Resort, presented awards at the post-race ceremonies.

How fast can you go? (on skis, that is). Are you ready to prove it?
The 32nd Dundee Wealth Management Over the Hill Downhill pits individuals and teams against each other for the glory of being the fastest down the mountain. So, regardless if you are a feisty spring chicken or just a few years shy of ancient, there is a team waiting for you. Even if you’ve never raced in a downhill, now is the time to learn something new and test your skills.
The Over the Hill Downhill is one of those great long running events where participants and volunteers of all ages and abilities come together year after year to enjoy each other’s company, challenge themselves and be inspired by those around them.
Training camps start on February the 4th, building up to race day on Sunday, February the 10th. For the first time this year the event corresponds with the BC Family Day long weekend, a great opportunity to tack on an extra day of phenomenal Silver Star skiing.
Rumor has it that the Vernon Ski Club has some unbeatable racers (care to place a small wager?). Join us at Silver Star for fun and fast times at the Over the Hill Downhill! We’re looking forward to a great weekend!

TECK JUVENILE RACE SERIES
Hemlock Ski Club
Hemlock Valley Resort, January 18 – 20, 2013
The "little ski club that could", otherwise known as the Hemlock Ski Club, showed that with a little cooperation from Mother Nature, a whole crew of super-keen, hardworking volunteers, and a lot of support from their home mountain (The Hemlock Valley Resort) they can successfully play host to their fellow coast zone ski clubs at a three-day, three-discipline race event. Racers took part in slalom, giant slalom and ski cross competitions under sunny skies Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Hemlock has been selected as the site of the alpine events at the 2014 BC Winter Games that will be held in Mission, February 20 – 23, 2014.
