Summit Lake Racers, Summit Lake Ski Hill host 86 young athletes at NGSL event

Summit Lake Ski Hill, perched above beautiful Summit Lake in Nakusp, BC, played host to West Kootenay club skiers and their families on Sunday, March 1, 2020. The Nancy Greene Ski League event welcomed 86 racers (U6 to U14) from Salmo, Whitewater, Red Mountain and Grandforks. Athletes were divided into 11 teams to challenge GS and slalom race courses. Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, parents and enthusiastic young competitors, everyone enjoyed an outstanding day of racing filled with fun, sunshine and perfect snow conditions. Special thank you to Summit Lake Ski Hill for hosting, and to Overwaitea Foods for donating to the delicious BBQ!

Future of Canadian Ski Racing to compete in Norway at 2020 World Juniors

Future of Canadian ski racing head to Narvik, Norway to compete against the world’s best

Calgary, Alta. (Feb. 28, 2020) – Alpine Canada has selected 12 athletes – seven women, five men – to represent Canada at the 2020 FIS Alpine World Junior Championships in Narvik, Noway, March 5 – 14. 

The selections were made based on outlined criteria which include their World Junior Rankings and performance in NorAm Cup racing.

“The World Junior Ski Championships is a key milestone in a skier’s career. For many it’s an opportunity to benchmark themselves against the best in the world – including many juniors who are competitive on the World Cup circuit. I look forward to cheering our athletes on in Narvik, Norway,” said Brien Perry, Director of Domestic Sport for Alpine Canada.

Sun Peaks Racers gearing up to Host Hub International Nancy Greene Festival

18th Annual Hub International Nancy Greene Festival, March 20 – 21, 2020 at Sun Peaks Resort


Sun Peaks Alpine Club is looking forward to welcoming racers and their families from across the province for two fun-filled days of skills events and races. This is an event for the whole family! Parents and spectators can easily cheer on their racers and take in all that the village and Sun Peaks has to offer. It’s a great way to end the season on a high note for teams and families from across BC!

New this year is an exclusive Skills Event Passport for all racers to take home. Racers will get a chance to try new skills in a fun and safe environment. Special guest Olympian Nancy Greene will greet athletes and hand out awards both days, as well as sign athlete passports. There will be a free team photo booth courtesy of Outerbridge photography at the top of OSV. Teams can stop by and have a professional photo taken with free digital download available to clubs after the event. Also make sure to join Uncle Chris the Clown for the kids apres ski party on Friday March 20th slope side in the Village at 4pm before awards.

Registration deadline is fast approaching. Please register through your ski club before Monday March 2nd at 9am.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: U16 National Championships, Sun Peaks, March 9-14

Hosted by: BC Alpine, Sun Peaks Alpine Club & Sun Peaks Resort
Dates: March 9-14, 2020

This will be a fun & very exciting event to be part of. Volunteers are needed for all aspects, both on and off the race courses. There is everything from making lunches, hosting an information booth, athlete parade, opening & closing ceremonies, bib collectors, organizing athletes in start, hand timers, hand timing recorders, gate judges and course workers.
