The Vancouver Ski Team announces new head coach for 2011 – 2012 season

The Vancouver Ski Team (VST) proudly announces the appointment of Martin Tichy as the FIS Head Coach.

The VST is a regional ski team, made up of FIS registered athletes from the Vancouver based ski clubs. It has a rich and competitive history and was formed to combine the resources of the local clubs at the FIS level.

In recent years, the VST has been revamped to improve coaching and training quality on it’s quest to become a high performance regional team.
The appointment of Martin Tichy brings expertise and local knowledge to this pursuit.

Growing up in Port Moody, BC and being a Grouse Tyee alumni, Martin is well aware of the local opportunities and knows first hand what it takes to succeed ski racing in the Metro Vancouver area.

His impressive list of accomplishments includes US, Czech and Slovak national SL titles and a top 75 world ranking in SL in 1998.
Since retiring from full-time racing, Martin and the Tichy family have been running a world class summer training program at Mt Hood. Tichy Racing has been assisting the Vancouver ski clubs with summer training delivery for some time so the transition to the new role is expected to be smooth.

For any information on the Vancouver Ski Team or the FIS program it delivers, Martin can be reached at vst@grousetyee.com

BC Alpine Sets registration fees for 2011-2012 – New season begins May 1st

Please be aware that as of May 1, 2011 the 2010-2011 season registration comes to an end and the 2011-2012 registration begins.
NOTE: The only price change this season is a minor tweak to the K1/K2 program costs.  We leveled the price for K1/K2 to $95, an average of the previous costs of $90/$100 which they used to be.

All FIS registration details should be coming to me shortly, at which time I will put out a new news article specifying registration details and sending an email out to all club registrars.
